One of the best beauty investments we can make for ourselves is investing in a great fragrance. It has always been used for seduction and for making a statement. If you are trying to impress others – or your significant other – you want to wear cologne.

But there’s one major problem with wearing cologne. It doesn’t always last as long as you want.

However, there’s nothing to worry about. There are plenty of ways to wear cologne and make it last.

We’ve prepared this guide to help you out.

The Guide On How To Wear Cologne That Lasts

The first thing to do is invest in a few great colognes. It’s up to you to choose which colognes you like the best. However, we recommend going for name brands and well-known fragrances. Choose the ones that have received favorable reviews.

One of our personal favorites is the Azzaro Wanted, which we are sure you’ll love.

Once you’ve chosen your colognes, here’s what you need to know:

1. Layer Your Fragrance

One of the easiest ways to make your cologne’s scent last is to layer it. For example, we always recommend that you put on your cologne after you bathe yourself.

When you bath yourself, make sure you apply scented soap on your body. It should develop a rich lather so that the scent can become prevalent on your body. After bathing, you should moisturize – apply a face cream if you would like and apply lotion all over your body.

Only after you bathe and moisturize yourself should you apply your cologne. Spray once or twice on your body and gently rub the cologne around that area. If you use cologne that can be poured, then take a few drops on your finger and gently dab it in your desired area.

2. Applying Your Fragrance

We never think about how we apply our fragrance to us. But there is an art and science on how to wear cologne.

For example, if you have to rub your fragrance it should always be done gently. As a general rule, you should not touch the fragrance once it has been applied. If you do rub it, make sure you do it gently.

We also recommend that you only apply your fragrance on your pulse points. Your pulse points include your wrists, neck, and behind your ears.

You should wear a cologne before you wear clothing. This is why we suggest applying your fragrance after bathing yourself. If you wear jewelry, you should remove it before applying a fragrance. (Ambien) Cologne – particularly spray colognes – can tarnish or permanently damage your jewelry.

3. Maintain Your Fragrance

One of the best ways to make your cologne last longer is to maintain it. This is something that so many cologne enthusiasts neglect.

Your cologne should always be kept in a cabinet or drawer. It should always be stored at room temperature. Make sure that the cap is always on the bottle.

If you lose the cap, find another way to cover the bottle. If the bottle or vial has a spray, you might be tempted to toss the cap away so that you can quickly spray. Avoid doing this at all costs!

Make sure the cologne is not exposed to air or to bright light. If you keep cologne in your car, it should be in the glove compartment – never lying around on the front seat or in the cupholder.

If you have portable or travel-friendly cologne, they should be kept in a toiletry bag. Keeping them in your pants pocket or coat pocket is not ideal.

When you reach your destination (if traveling) you should take out your cologne and leave it in the hotel bathroom as opposed to leaving it in your toiletry bag.

4. Do Not Indulge

Indulging in your application of cologne is not the best way to make it last longer. Not only will you run out of your supply much faster, but the scent itself will not last long on your body.

If you are spraying cologne, you should never use more than two sprays. If your cologne has a strong smell, then you should only spray once.

If you use a bottled cologne make sure to only add a few dabs of cologne to your pulse points.

If you use cologne as a bathing oil, you should apply it after you have washed with soap and water.

Only use a few drops to rub gently over your body. If you have used scented soap for your body, then you should put as few dabs of cologne as possible. You may even want to avoid cologne altogether.

You want to make sure that you never indulge in how much cologne you wear. This will turn others off and makes the otherwise fragrant scent unbearable to smell.

5. Be Creative

You can make your cologne last longer with a number of creative methods. For example, we mentioned cologne as a bathing oil in the previous tip. If you add a few drops of cologne to baby oil and shake it, you can use it as a bathing oil.

You can also carry a small vial of cologne on the go. This way, if your scent runs out you will always have a backup.

If your scent wears off due to sweat, you want to wash first. If this is not possible, try to wipe your face with a handkerchief. If you can, go to a bathroom and wash your face and dry it before applying cologne.

You can also consider wearing cologne at unusual times to improve your body’s scent. You can wear a cologne before going to bed at night. You can also put on a smaller application of cologne in the middle of the day so that the scent doesn’t wear off.
